Background

The Splinter Band was formed in 2004. The members hail from long running Newcastle bands Nodes Levity and Blast From The Past.

Nodes Levity started in the early 1970’s and finally finished in the early 1990’s. Dick and Meggsy were the original members of that band. They played just about every venue in Newcastle including long term residencies at what was Stewart and Lloyds Recreation club and now is known as Club Phoenix. Nodes Levity also were regulars on many cruises.

Blast From The Past started in the early 1990’s and finished in 2002. Woody and Peter created the band to be audience focused. From the start and for the duration the band had regular monthly work at The Junction Hotel, Raymond Terrace. Blast From The Past also were a favorite corporate function band.

The Band

From suburban backyards to city halls the Splinter Band have worked them all. They have extensive experience, equipment and crew to operate out of any venue.

The Splinter Band currently have regular work at Lakeside Tavern, Commercial Hotel, Iron Horse Hotel and the Shaft Tavern. The band have also worked as a backing band for assorted local artists.

Summary

The Splinter Band offer great music that is 100% live. No drum machines, sequencers or backing tracks. The musicians have been playing for years and are playing because they enjoy the performing live. The broad appeal of the band is because they play crowd favorites irrespective of when they were released.
